For the record, while most provinces allow police to file charges directly, BC, Quebec, and New Brunswick are the only provinces that require Crown Counsel to approve charges.
That said, for **all** provinces in Canada, speech-related offences require Attorney General's consent for charges.
Previously, for speech-related crimes in Canada, charges needed to be approved by the Attorney General.
Would you support a law that lifts that requirement, and instead let police file charges directly, for speech-related crimes (such as hate speech)?
