Here we can see the different stages of the #battery test period, and recharging after.

From the left; the pulse stage, were the voltage varies from 12.7V - 14.4V.

Then we see the test period, where the voltage drops until the battery reaches 50%.

Now charge stages; bulk (ramping up to 14.4V), absorption (keeping 14.4V), analyze (check if dropping below 12V) and float (keep 13.6V). After 10 days of float the pulse stage starts again.

#CTEK has this well documented in their user manuals.

Ich denke meine Motorradsaison ist vorbei. Für viele sicher unvorstellbar: ich habe heute das erste Mal in meinem garnicht mal so kurzem Leben ein Batterieladegerät benutzt. Genauer gesagt ein ctek mxs 3.8
Schnellanschluss hab ich vorher noch an der Batterie angebracht. Sehr komfortable Lösung. So wird das Moped jetzt paar Monate schlafen 💤

@ollej I'm annoyed with the #CTEK for the connector. I can't match it to anything by eye-- it looks a lot like a Molex weather-resistant one-- and don't want to buy a cable just to cut the connector from it. One offs from McMaster are too pricey, so I'll end up getting theirs.

@lamp In theory if you can get your hands on sulphuric acid and a #CTEK charger and it'd not leaking than you could use the RECON program of said charger to recondition the battery...

You may have to first remove a lot of lead sulphate and slag inside of it...

I hope it's not too far gone but if you were in Germany the only option would be to return it and get the €7,50 deposit back and buy a new one.

Depending on the size & capacity it might be cheaper to just buy a #LiFePO4 battery instead.
