I bought a fancy new battery charger for my motorcycle, the CTEK CS FREE. I don’t have access to a mains outlet in my garage, and it would be nice to have as backup if the battery runs out.

Unfortunately it turns out that it doesn’t support the standard CTEK connect cables. I can only use the included cable with crocodile clamps. So I can’t connect it to the battery tender connector. This removes quite a lot of the usefulness of it.

#motorcycle

@ollej seems like an easy fix with a knife and a couple wire splices.
@leerayl I kinda feel that I shouldn’t have to when buying an expensive charger.
@ollej I get that. This is the one place I feel like I have no issues. I am hesitant to do a lot of stuff on my own but electric, no fear.
@ollej I'm annoyed with the #CTEK for the connector. I can't match it to anything by eye-- it looks a lot like a Molex weather-resistant one-- and don't want to buy a cable just to cut the connector from it. One offs from McMaster are too pricey, so I'll end up getting theirs.
@rlonstein They don’t even offer one themselves yet. Apparently they have to make an adapter that works with 20 amps.
@ollej I was looking at their m/f extension cable (56-304) or m-to-ring terminal (56-261) for a CT-5. There must be a source for the plugs.
@ollej Add a socket in the garage and modify the included cables to connect to the bike :) Infinite usefullness.
@arnan I’m not allowed to modify anything in n the garage, that’s why I bought a CS Free. Otherwise I would’ve bought a cheaper one.
@ollej Well, nothing an extension cord can’t fix then.
Looked up that ctek cs free thing,
It appears that my $25 charger is more flexible though heh.
@arnan i have a long extension cord, but I’m not allowed to use that either.
@ollej 😵‍💫🙄🙄
