#LosAngelesCounty is working to deliver on Measure G, the governance reforms County voters approved in November 2024. One of the first steps: the County is establishing a new #Ethics Commission and Ethics Office, and it is seeking experienced #consultants to help with implementation.

The opportunity is open now, and the County is reviewing responses as they are received, so responding early is encouraged. Written questions are due Thursday, June 18, 2026

It seems to me, in layman’s terms, that #Universtiy Councils which rely on #consultants for support is as much an admission of the Councellors’ lack of competency as it is evidence of their ineptitude to fulfill the roles they have been appointed to. Ergo, the primary salve to University woes is major reforms to Councellor appointments and remuneration as well as Council composition. There are obviously cases where hiring consultants to undertake specialised and specific work which cannot be performed (for valid reasons) by University staff and public service, though these ought to be fully transparent to staff and students alike.
