Three years since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine: Concrete steps supported by Eurojust on the road to accountability

Available in:EstonianLatvianLithuanianPolishRomanianSlovakUkrainianThe national authorities participating in the Eurojust-supported joint investigation team (JIT) on alleged core international crimes committed in Ukraine have interviewed 4 000 witnesses so far, in addition to over 40 000 interviews conducted by the Ukrainian authorities on their own territory. As a result of close cooperation between the JIT parties (representing the national judicial authorities of Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic and Ukraine), the Lithuanian Prosecution Service has issued Notices of Suspicion in absentia against six suspects. In addition, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine has issued a Notice of Suspicion against another individual for war crimes against a civilian.

Start of operations of Core International Crimes Evidence Database and new International Centre for Prosecution of the crime of Aggression to be based at Agency

Margarita Šniutytė-Daugėlienė, Ladislav Hamran, Myroslava Krasnoborova and Matevz PezdircAlmost one year after the start of the war in Ukraine, Eurojust has taken crucial steps in support of the judicial response to alleged core international crimes. An important milestone is the start of operations of the Core International Crimes Evidence Database (CICED). A new International Centre for Prosecution of the crime of Aggression (ICPA) will also be based at Eurojust.
