Very honoured to have been able to work with @ddiazescandon and collaborators on this paper out today in @CurrentBiology. We sequenced #genomes of 'oddball' #fungi so morphologically diverse they were placed in seven different classes. All but one of these resolved to a single, common evolutionary origin — and revealed genomes remarkably similar in size and functional gene repertoire. #lichens #lichensubscribe #fungal #CAZymes
