Bis jetzt wusste ich nicht für was Brötli wirklich genutzt werden kann, da es sehr langsam ist aber efizient komprimmiert. Jetzt zeigt es mir, das die Google Erfindung bei PDF durchaus Sinn ergibt.

Many people seem weirdly suspicious about Google's #Brotli compression while being weirdly chill about Facebook's #ZSTD, to the point of commenting on posts about Brotli compression being added to things to the effect of, "This is a conspiracy by Google, they clearly should've chosen ZSTD instead". What's up with that? Is Google really so much less scary than 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬?

Running of few tests I haven't noticed any increasing in errors output / served to other servers. Will keep an eye on logs .

Aktuell nutze ich Tools von Drittanbietern, wenn ein:e Auftraggeber:in eine kleinere Dateigröße haben will als sie beim »normalen« PDF-Export aus InDesign & Co produziert wird.

Im PDF-Standard 2.0 wird gerade eine bessere Kompression implementiert. Mit Brotli, ursprünglich von Google entwickelt, sollen die PDF-Dateien viel kleiner werden.

Die PDF Association hat dazu einen informativen Text veröffentlicht inklusive Beispieldateien.
