I'm about 2/3 of the way through #WarAndPeace, just finished the section on the battle of #Borodino, and every once in a while during the battle scenes I have to pinch myself to remember the telegraph hadn't been invented yet. Maybe you could use semaphores or other signaling, but mostly if you wanted to send a message you'd actually have to get face-to-face.

@decodingtrolls first called #Muscovy's fiasco in #Ukraine a #Reverse-#Napoleon on 1st March 2022 (https://twitter.com/decodingtrolls/status/1498649837830651909?s=46&t=-RbNvTpcXRCQbT4XSZLWEQ).

Now retreating #Ruschist soldier refers to #Borodino, battle Napoleon "won", prior to losing the war.

"Borodino" was #Minsk I & Minsk II.

Napoleon entered Muscovy with 1m soldiers. 30,000 survived.

Any Ruschist soldiers left in Ukraine as winter falls will get the same fate the French had in Muscovy while retreating with Napoleon.

“Russia in🇺🇦has done a Reverse-Napoleon. Tolstoy brilliantly shows Russian General Kutznoy's strategy in War & Peace: draw the 🇫🇷 further & further in, so their supply lines are stretched. Napoleon sat in Moscovy waiting for Moscovy to surrender. Never did. French died retreating.”
