Watching the basketball game tonight and it’s amazing how MS-13 has filled the United Center.

I’m a medical interpreter at a teaching hospital affiliated with Harvard Medical School. Trump’s war on higher education, especially the I’ve League, has now become a war on the hospital where I work.
We are a high quality hospital offering top notch medical care to some of the poorest residents of Boston. Our CEO says we should be ok overall but it may lead to cutbacks in some areas.
Fascism has come home.

I brought home a couple of half gallons of cranberry juice from the shoppers club last week and two fifths of Beefeaters gin, and voila.

I’m reading James McPherson’s Battle Cry of Freedom and it’s stunning how much the deporters’ rhetoric today echoes the slavers’ rhetoric around the Fugitive Slave Act. At times, it’s one to one equivalence.

While it’s true Polk doubled the size of the US and made the country a bicoastal nation, the Mexican Cession led more or less directly to the Civil War.
