If you've got a few bucks and want to make someone's life a little easier without leaving your seat, I'd like to recommend this list of "books that are often requested, but rarely donated" to Great Falls Books Through Bars in Western Massachusetts. You can basically pay for a book (or a pile of books) at cost and have it (or them) sent directly to Books Through Bars for distribution. (If you live in the area, there are also drop-off sites.) Pretty solid all around.

And in honor of Banned Books Week, they've got a matching donor lined up: they'll match all wish list sales up to $1k between now and October 12. It's hard to argue with that.

Lastly, this is through Massive Bookshop, which raises money for a statewide bail fund. So if you're looking to order a book in the future, I highly recommend getting it through them whenever possible. I've ordered a bunch of stuff through them over the past several years, and they're always quick, responsive, and usually cheaper than most other places. Bookmark that bookshop!

GFBtB WISH LIST

This weekend we're hosting something extremely cool! Following the monthly Asheville Prison Books packaging party on Sunday at 1pm, we'll be hosting an event for "Books Through Bars," a new book co-edited by APB founding member Mac Marquis, and featuring the writing of Firestorm team member Julie Schneyer! Composed of essays from prison book program participants themselves, this collection details how ordinary people are organizing and intervening in the largest system of incarceration the world has ever known.

This will be our first hybrid event, meaning you can join in-person or remotely! If you're planning to join online, register for free and grab a copy of the book at https://firestorm.coop/events/3157-the-prison-books-movement.html.
