There’s a Spanish medieval village, built a thousand years ago, off the grid with intermittent and limited power. Wells have dried up (I started drinking my pasta water, feeling too guilty to tip it down the sink) and there’s a four-kilometre driveway with no town at the end of it, just a road. No internet. No alcohol allowed, no clothes, no washing machine. I love to make rules for myself and I told myself I would spend a month there, naked.
Before we go any further, let me save you from the social faux pas you will want to commit: calling this place a ‘nudist colony’. That phrase died in the ’60s. This is a naturist community.
The naturists’ thesis is simple: bodies are just bodies. But can a body actually be ‘just a body’? I wondered this, as I removed my op shop Laura Ashley dress in the apartment that would be mine for the next month. The only mirror was bathroom-mounted and brochure-sized, decorated with a constellation of toothpaste spatter.
The population of the village swells to 100 in summer and dwindles to around 20 permanent residents in winter. Every day, I’d mop my floor. I’d watch the sun move across my medieval stone walls. I learnt the goats’ individual personalities. When it was windy and therefore a spot of electricity was being generated, I’d run back to my apartment and plug my phone in to charge...

A nudist beach in Scotland has been named one of the best in the UK. The "off the beaten track" bay can only be reached by ferry.
On Tuesday, October 7, BBC Countryfile shared a list of "the best nudist beaches in the UK". A total of nine beaches across the nation are featured on the roundup.
Among the beaches singled out by BBC Countryfile was Cleat’s Shore on the Isle of Arran. According to the experts, the island bay is thought to be the "only official nudist beach" in Scotland.
Cleat’s Shore is situated near Lagg on the southwest tip of Arran, which is the biggest of the islands in the Firth of Clyde. It was previously described in the book Bare Britain as "probably the least visited nudist beach in the known universe".
The beach was noted by BBC Countryfile for its remote location. The experts also stated that Cleat’s Shore would appeal to beachgoers who enjoy "icy" conditions.
Additionally, Cleat's Shore has received positive reviews from the public...

**Naked bike ride to protest Trump’s invasion set for Sunday**

A naked bike ride being billed as a protest to Trump’s illegal invasion of Portland has been scheduled for Sunday, October 12th at 2:30 pm.
The “Emergency World Naked Bike Ride” is being organized by the group that created a second naked bike ride in 2024 when Portland’s original version took the year off. The two rides have very similar names (World Naked Bike Ride Portland and Portland World Naked Bike Ride) which has caused some confusion. The riding club behind the ride, Naked Hearts PDX, has led hundreds of group rides and is known for the heart-shaped speaker box and sound system pulled behind a cargo trailer.
The organizers who are behind this “emergency” ride say there’s is distinct from the other one in its commitment to direct action. Their first ride in September 2024 included a die-in in front of the headquarters of Zenith Energy in the Northwest Industrial District.

Autumn has arrived today, bringing rain (which is sorely needed here too) and wind; summer is definitely over. But I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy a few warm afternoon hours on 1 and 2 October, soaking up the last warming rays of sunshine at (and in) the swimming pond at https://www.LBN-Duisburg.de.
I took it easy each day and set off on a bike ride in the late morning. At around 1 p.m., I arrived at the LBN grounds to take advantage of the sunny weather and soak up some vitamin D for 2-3 hours. As it was almost windless, it was simply perfect sunshine so late in the year and definitely the last opportunity for the foreseeable future, and it was probably my last swim of the year.

Pickleball Fever in the Philippines
First, let’s talk pickleball—not the nudist version, just the friendly paddle sport that’s taken Metro Manila and beyond by storm. Pickleball reached our shores in 2016 via Cebu and quickly grew into a national phenomenon. By 2024, there were 181 clubs and over 10,700 registered players; as of March 2025, those numbers have soared to 211 clubs and more than 13,000 members.
This wasn’t some fringe game—it’s found its way into barangay gyms, malls, seaside courts, and even our societal rhythm. The Philippine Pickleball Federation earned recognition from the Philippine Olympic Committee in May 2024, and “Street Pickleball” events in Pasig have become weekend staples.
