055 - Magneto
An iconic Magneto to kick off the first full Super-Villain page. In a nice touch, the color shifts to purple for the bad guys.
I think this is the only place I've seen the Acolytes referred to as the "Mutants of Avalon."

S8 - Xi'an
AKA Future Professor X
All jokes aside, I have always appreciated that the X-Men 2099 Professor X figure - the one around whom the X-Men gravitate - isn't a telepath.

S7 - Skullfire
AKA Future Cyclops/Havok
More or less the POV character of X-Men 2099, Tim is also a first ballot honoree in the "Ron Lim Hands" Hall of Fame.

S6 - Bloodhawk
AKA Future AngelWolverine
The "In the Year 2099" fact could really read "In the Year 2026", amiright?

S5 - Serpentina
AKA Future Thunderbird (cuz she died early on)
I'm honestly surprised Moore kept Serpentina dead.

S4 - Metalhead
AKA Future Colossus
Metalhead's eventual transformation into a melty metal man blew my young mind far more than Serpentina's earlier death did.

S3 - Krystalin
AKA Future Storm, Kinda
Despite my "AKA" bit, one of the interesting things about X-Men 2099 is that a lot of them don't map neatly onto a "present day" X-Men analog; Krystalin is a good example of that.

S2 - Cerebra
AKA Future Jean Grey
What are the odds Grant Morrison was aware of this character when they debuted the souped version of Cerebro of the same name?

Blish left out the two Mudd stories from the previous 12 books and then tried to adapt them both and make one story. He died before finishing, and his wife, JA Lawrence, finished it and added a 3rd, original story. Later reprinted with a new title.
