In light of Zuckerberg's intended moderation changes for Threads, Blorbo Social will no longer be federating with Threads. We may revisit this decision in the future.

We apologize for any inconvenience this causes for our users, and as always, we welcome any feedback you may have!

Meta to get rid of factcheckers and recommend more political content

Mark Zuckerberg says company will ‘dramatically reduce censorship’ across Facebook, Instagram and Threads

The Guardian

@fellofreak we had mastodon.social limited for a while because we were getting a lot of spam from there.

But we lifted the limit on 1 December so it shouldn't affect anything right now.

Even when they were limited, if you were following their account from here, you would still be able to view their posts on your Home feed.

I don't know what's going on in this particular scenario.

If you'd like to send me the URLs you're trying to get to (by direct message if you'd prefer), I'll check it out.

@XenonKaguno I'm glad to hear that you're having a good experience on burggit!

According to their published rules, it seems that there is no rule against hate speech. Instead, users are expected to block and filter against things like that.

I haven't used burggit myself, so I can't speak from experience. But I've heard from multiple people (including aethy members) that there are some pretty unpleasant posters in burggit and that their hate speech isn't moderated against.

I believe the blorbo mod team would be willing to consider re-federating if the burggit team committed to moderating against hate speech, and seemed to be doing so consistently and effectively.

Edited to add: we do federate with plenty of instances that allow content that isn't allowed on blorbo. But we don't compromise regarding hate speech.

#BlorboFed

We have defederated from dill.burggit.moe because they do not moderate against hate speech.

#BlorboFed

We are federated with https://freaksonly.space but, before today, weren't actually aware of it.

It looks like a well-moderated space and we'll stay federated with them. But we have to limit media (same as we do with aethy.com) because they allow sexual art of underage characters.

This means that blorbo.social people can follow and interact with people on freaksonly, but you won't see any images attached to the posts when viewing from here. You can still view the images by clicking the links to view the original posts on freaksonly.

(Side note: The current mastodon software and client have known bugs where the links sometimes don't display when posts on media-limited instances have images attached. This is frustrating! It should be fixed in the next vanilla mastodon release, but we don't know when that will be. In the meantime, you can try using a different web interface (e.g. elk or phanpy) or a different mobile client.)

FREAKS ONLY

Finally, social media for FREAKS* ONLY**
(*freak is defined here as anyone who doesn't fit into societal norms.)
(**allies to the freaks are also allowed.)

FREAKS ONLY

@scumsuck @ImpTwins actually we don't federate with baraag because their moderation against hate speech is ... not to a level that we're comfortable with. If their moderation against hate speech improved, we'd consider federating with them.

We limit media from aethy.com because sexual art of underage characters is prohibited by Australian law (I'm Australian). We still federate with aethy, it's just that our users have to click through to aethy to view any images etc attached to posts.

(We'll probably have to limit media from freaksonly.space too, but I've only just learned about them today so need to check it out a bit more to be sure.)

#BlorboFed

I know some new arrivals from aethy may want to follow users on baraag.

However, we don't federate with baraag because they don't moderate hate speech to the level that we require.

There are so many now because the script kiddies are trying to exploit all the open servers that they can find, for lulz??

Anyway I won't keep posting a list of all the individual servers we're having to limit at the moment.

If you're a blorbo-haver, you can view the list at the bottom of our about page.

#BlorboFed

Unfortunately a lot more servers are being hit by the spam wave.

We've also limited:

- mastodon-swiss.org
- h4.io (might be okay now)
- wehavecookies.social
- det.social
- mastouille.fr
- piaille.fr
- bahn.social
- elizur.me

I suspect the spammers will keep going on every server they find that has open signups.

#BlorboFed

We've limited theses domains due to a spam attack:

- cunnyborea.top
- mxin.moe (might be okay now)
- social.cutefunny.net
- misskey.kuromame048.net

(But we haven't limited friendsyu.me because they've addressed it.)
