A new report, published by #Wildlife and Countryside LINK, reveals that the Government’s recently introduced exemptions on #BNG are actually increasing #nature inequality – and it could get worse.

Evidence from the first year of BNG shows how serious this problem is. Around 86% of planning applications have claimed exemptions, and the de minimis route alone has accounted for more than half of all cases. This means many developments are avoiding their responsibility to contribute to nature, even when they shouldn’t.

Interessant ist auch der Ansatz in #UK mit dem "#Biodiversity Net Gain" Gesetz:
Bevor ein Wald abgeholzt wird, um eine Wohnsiedlung zu bauen, wird erst die Biodiversität gemessen (z.B. Audio-Analyse zum Vögeldiversität).
Nach dem Bau der Wohnsiedlung wird wieder gemessen und dann sind die Auftraggeber gesetzlich dazu verpflichtet einen Ausgleich zu schaffen. Also ein "Net Gain", damit insgesammt mehr Biodiversität vorhanden ist, als vor der Maßnahme.
