Big Tancook Island residents urge speed limit reduction before new car ferry service starts
Later this year, an 18-vehicle car ferry is expected to start serving Big Tancook Island for the first time. Residents are worried about safety on the roads, which have plenty of deer and potholes and no sidewalks or street lighting.

A small patch of moss growing on a pear tree branch in the yard here on Big Tancook Island.

This same moss grows dangling from the spruce tree branches in the forested areas, really looks quite cool.

mackerels were jigged, some were reeled in

Fall vacation with my in laws on Big Tancook Island in Mahone Bay on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.

Here are a couple of scenes from yesterday afternoon’s walk along the back shore.

The island in the middle distance of the first pic is Ironbound, “inspiration” for the novel Rockbound which won Canada Reads many years ago. The next land after that is the coast of France.
