While the search and rescue (SAR) from the landslide in #BatangKali is still ongoing, the weather warning from MYMet isn't leaving much comfort for the rest of #Malaysia. A check-in thread here from the SCMP correspondent, Hadi Azmi - https://twitter.com/amerhadiazmi/status/1604355844438601728?t=H17BMXEp5XVqbF5FJT8wKQ - with photos and videos in the replies underscores the overall severity in the peninsula. It's just years at this point of seeing how #ClimateChange and badly planned development worsening historical patterns. Anthropogenic era indeed.

While #BatangKali is in the news, perhaps it's not a bad time to bring to everyone's attention another #tragedy from decades ago, for which the victim's families are still fighting for some measure of #justice.

It's been ten years since I wrote a series of court dispatches on the Batang Kali #Massacre, perpetrated by #British forces during the battle against #communism in #Malaysia. It's been described as "Britain's My Lai".
