I have an open request to NCDOT to install a 'no right on red' sign here. They're looking into it, collecting data to determine whether saving lives won't cause too much of an inconvenience for a fewl of drivers.
Even if they agree, this shouldn't be case-by-case.

The utter stupidity of allowing drivers to turn right on red lights is the hill I will die on. Probably literally.
It's time to stop risking pedestrian and bicyclist lives by trusting drivers to decide when it's safe to go.

I've had to sit out entire signal cycles -- with the walk signal! -- because drivers can't be bothered to look right before turning right on red at this multi-use path crossing.
#NCDOT's response: "We'll look into it, and get back to you in 6-8 weeks."
