Very excited about the return of the clovers in our lawn - slow, but strongly encouraged! Can't wait to have bees buzzing around the lawn again

Two white egrets stalking the shallows right behind the house. What a lovely thing to wake up to this morning.
Aka the answer to anyone who would ask at work “why do you live so far away?”
(I don’t, it’s the office that’s far away from my home!)

Very cute. No evidence yet of having eaten anything substantial, so we’re still in the enjoyment phase

📢KLAXON📢

We just had a Kingfisher pass through and take an extended break in the marshland, aka outer playing fields!

Backyard Wildlife College is ECSTATIC about this sighting in our immediate environs, the first time in many decades for our groundskeepers.

We extended a warm welcome to our new friend and hope s/he spends more time here, as we have a lot to offer!

(Kingfisher was a bit shy, so no picture proof available)

Actual conversation:
Me: those walnuts you found in the garage are still good, they taste nice.
Mum: oh ok! Then i shan’t leave them out for Erik.
Me: I don’t mind sharing them with Erik, but I do want some for me.

(Erik is our resident red squirrel)

Please remember to clean your bird feeder regularly- prevent salmonella from spreading when helping our feathered friends through the winter.

Our little house is very popular with the locals!

The Little Owl Hoot-off battle continues tonight again, here in the woods behind the house (aka “Collegium Vanachter in den hof”)

Quiet country-side nights are not what you imagine them to be! But we do love them.

@Ruralhermit @johnefrancis as my grandad used to say: oh well, the critters also need food. Groundhog thanks you for your contributions to their meal plan

@JimsPhotos thanks for sharing! Our local Red in 🇧🇪 has been shy/ we’ve not been out as much, and I kinda miss my little greys from my US backyard who chase each other over the peanuts I put out.
