Back on the 12th June, I fell off my bike. This is an essay about why autistic people fall off bikes, and what it has to do with my research.

Gentlefolk

As you may know, the Autistic Cyclists project has been developing a hybrid curriculum for #autisticCyclists and their carers with the support of Cycling UK. We're now at the stage where we would welcome #actuallyAutistic people who were willing to try out a new introductory class and give us feedback. If you're interested, this will take about 30 minutes to complete. Please send your name and email to <[email protected]> and we will send you registration details for the class. Please send us feedback on the same email address once you've finished.

@actuallyautistic

Folks, as part of our #AutisticCyclists project we've got spare capacity for a Dr Bike session in #Aberdeen this Saturday 25th March for anyone who wants to get their bicycle ready for spring adventures. This is a Dr Bike workshop and they will inspect a bicycle, adjust it for the rider, and make minor repairs for free. Of course, this is especially relevant for those parents with children who are neurodivergent, but it's open to anyone.

If you are interested, send an email directly to Andrew Campbell <[email protected]> at Cycling UK Scotland (who are funding the event) to reserve a space and mention that you were referred by the Autistic Cyclists programme.

If you are interested to find out more about cycle training for families where one or more people are autistic, please contact me. We offer online courses that teach basic skills, route planning skills, and techniques for riding as a family or group to support autistic cyclists.
