The only one of my elephant garlic to bloom, still wearing its jaunty little hat.

(Before anyone starts giving tips, I have successfully grown elephant garlic for the last 5 years, but last year me and all my garlic got evicted and the already flowering plants endured being put in pots and carted across town in blazing heat. I get why this year the others haven't bloomed. I like the blooms almost more than the cloves.) #gardening @gardening #garlic #alliums #ElephantGarlic #bloomscrolling

Went outside to scout a bit and at least confirm where I'll be transplanting the sweet potato slips later today, I found most of my garlic plants have grown scapes and that a few of my Egyptian Walking onions are going to be taking a sizable step if I don't trim/harvest them within the next week or two.

Alliums, like garlic, onions, leeks, shallots, and chives, are easy to grow in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight. Plant garlic in fall, onions and leeks in spring, and enjoy perennial chives year-round. Harvest when leaves yellow and die back—garlic and onions need careful digging, while leeks and shallots should be lifted gently. Chives can be snipped anytime for fresh growth. 🌱 #gardeningtips #alliums #homegrown https://www.murfreesborocommunitygardening.com/post/allium-wonders-discover-their-versatility-and-health-benefits

In the Ergative Absolutive household, we often quantify key groceries in terms of 'fucktons'. For example: 'I have picked up half a fuckton of garlic'.

In today's grocery delivery, I ordered a full fuckton of onions. Because the grocery store does not offer metric fucktons, I had to translate that into 4 kilograms of onions.

Instead, I got 4 onions.

Four onions is not a fuckton!

Okay, they're all strung up next to last year's #garlic in the basement. #onions #GrowYourOwn #Food 🤞🏼#foodstorage #foodsecurity #alliums #GardeningMastodon
