The Spanish High Court has ruled in favor of @civio and is forcing the Spanish Government to give access to the source code of BOSCO, the application that decides who receives social subsidies and who doesn't, after demanding it since 2018, and after facing numerous legal setbacks

"Brussels orders X to hand over documents on algorithm"

Good news - maybe we'll get some #algorithmtransparency 😁
Very much needed in this age of #bigtech #microtargeting via #socialmedia

@remixtures I think we should be demanding #AlgorithmTransparency from all these #bigtech products... But I doubt that will happen ☹️

(Inspired by the book Weapons of Math Destruction)

@togetherwithgoodpeople yes, this! We need this attitude in the fight against #bigtech and their #antidemocratic business model: #surveillancecapitalism

Call on your government to ban #SurveillanceAdvertising
And mandate #AlgorithmTransparency
So that #socialmedia stops polarising people!

As a former public defender and technologist, I really like the spirit of this bill.

TL;DR: The Justice in Forensic Algorithms Act, would allow defendants to access the source code of software used to analyze evidence in their criminal trials. The bill also calls for the creation of testing standards for forensic algorithms and aims to address concerns about bias and transparency in the criminal justice system.
