Climate change deniers after our streets are burning and the data is showing this be like *why Europeans don't get more #Aircon?*

I'm still here and I'm apparently #BuzzLightyear https://x.com/RoyMathur/status/2068888729012388192. Regarding #CRRRRS Pod's classic #DoctorWho #revisit, I finished #TheCurseofFenric and #Survival today. I'm writing the notes now, while trying not to melt, thanks to stupid humans trying to destroy their planet. The #heatwave is so bad that my home #aircon is almost useless, so I'm only emerging from my lair tonight to drive an aircon car to an aircon place for chips.

What our grumpy cat would be doing if we had Aircon in the house.

“Now here’s the most ridiculous thing. Most single-hose air conditioners are essentially dual-hose units that come with only one hose. All you need to fix this flaw is another hose and an attachment. At least one manufacturer, GE, sells a conversion kit for some of its single-hose models” 🤯
Lots of people make DIY conversions too, with success. Good to know!

If you have or want an #AirCon unit in the UK or Europe, read this from New Scientist: https://apple.news/AL3N6hwO2TW2DNKMdue0Gzw
“Efficiency ratings on portable air conditioners don’t give consumers the full picture, and one type of unit is so inefficient that it should be banned”

“Dual-hose air conditioners, as they are known, are less efficient than split systems. The outlet hose transfers some heat to the room – you can reduce this by wrapping a blanket around it – and if the hose ends are too close…

Most portable air conditioners suck – but there's an easy fix — New Scientist

Efficiency ratings on portable air conditioners don’t give consumers the full picture, and one type of aircon unit is so inefficient that it should be banned, says Michael Le Page

Remember kids, don't buy your #aircon in a #heatwave . The tech bros are not on your side.
Posting one good thing each day is proving difficult (which I guess is the point, the more you do it the more you're aware of the positive things). Today I'm incredibly grateful for the aircon in the boat (solar powered so no emissions). It's turning what would otherwise be an oven into a comfortable living and working space. Outside temperature right now is 29.2 (Celsius), inside its a much more comfortable 26.4. All thanks to my amazing wife @natz_b who suggested we get on in April!

I mean she’s not wrong, it’s the SUV solution to road safety all over again.
But the short term problem is real.
Sure we can insist on using rooftop solar - which is just local energy transfer - but surely this isn’t viable in cities.

UK cannot ‘air con its way’ out of this heatwave says Professor

Is the UK built for these high temperatures? We asked Lucelia Rodrigues, Professor of Sustainable and Resilient Cities at the University of Nottingham.

Sweltering in #Bath's heat-wave. Am drenched in sweat, and wondering how a hoax achieves that...

Maybe Donald Jesus Trump, who is always right, can explain how the woke, loony-lefty Climate Change Hoax works?

This article sparked my interest, even the bit about #AirCon. Not ideal, as air-conditioning can exacerbate global warming*

Was reminded of spending one autumn living in St Louis, MO, in 1992.

A quite natty small Air-Con unit poked thru my apartment's sash-window, resting on a shelf external to the building but, as a newbie, I hadn't realised residents got them stored by building management as winter approaches, to avoid freezing as wintry draughts swirl around the poorly sealed gaps twixt window frame and air-con unit.

I’m Australian, so I know how to cope with heatwaves: here are my tips for keeping cool

As parts of the UK swelter, try these low-energy ways to cool down – from fly screens and no-cook meals to air coolers that use a fraction of the electricity of aircon
