I’ve surprised myself with how happy I am to have learned a new word recently.

We needed to order sconces for our kitchen and found an option where the shade was described as “slubby”. Apparently it’s a linen texture.

Guess who has recently also ordered a slubby linen shower curtain?

I know that the convention with the hashtag is three good things but I'm sitting here more or less in the dead of night and I hear a blackbird out there singing its heart out (at its own expense?). Thinking about the Beatles' song and how I always thought that "in the dead of night" was taking certain liberties. Yeah, well, I'm here, occasionally looking through the crack in the curtains and it's not dawn yet. Probably not even pre-dawn. And there it is... a blackbird. Or maybe a mistle thrush, but let's not get too technical about it...
