These Women of #WW2 Resistance Kickstarter goodies arrived yesterday from Bad Squiddo Games. #AgentZo bookmark going in my copy of the book, with the other finding a place in a volume on French resistance. More awesome figures to base and paint!

How appropriate that today, Polish Independence Day, Bad Squiddo Games notifies me my #AgentZo figure is on its way to me in America. Can’t wait for her and a few other Women of #WW2 Resistance to arrive!

Wife’s friend has 20-hour flight for vacation, needs book recommendations.

Wife: What was that book about the #WW2 woman you liked so much?

Me: #AgentZo?

Wife: Yeah. Who was the author? Didn’t you hear her speak in DC at the Spy Museum?

Me: Yes, clare mulley. (spells name)

Wife: Yes, that one. Thanks.

Granted, I’ve read and appreciated several excellent books about #WW2 women, but #AgentZo is THAT book.

Finally got out to visit the Barnes & Noble in Fredericksburg, VA, this weekend; thrilled to see a host of new-to-me espionage books in the #WW2 section, along with some recently read favorites, engaging works by Sonia Purnell and Clare Mulley.

For #IWD2023, this is the international woman I am currently sharing my life with… #AgentZo #WomanOnAMission, the only female #SilentAndUnseen parachutist / SOE Polish section #SpecialAgent, in #WW2.
I’m still writing but book should be published next spring!

As it’s #WorldBookDay, here’s me working on my first book, knackered, with 3 little ones & a #ProperJob!
Now I have 3 published books, focusing mainly on women in conflict. #TheWomanWhoSavedTheChildren , #TheSpyWhoLoved & #TheWomenWHoFlewForHitler
The 4th, #AgentZo, is on the way… so I’m still sat typing at a desk 📙📗📕📘

#otd 76 years ago, little Tania Szabo is presented with her mother Violette’s #GeorgeCross at Buckingham Palace.
#VioletteSzabo, one of the best known of the female special operations executive agents, did not return from occupied-France on her second mission.
Second photo shows Tania pointing to her mother’s name on the memorial at #Tempsford, from where she was flown out.
Last photo show Tania and me with Bob Large, the pilot who flew Violette neck after her first mission, dodging flak en route.
The last name on the memorial, #ElżbietaZawacka, is the real name of #AgentZo, the subject of my next book…

General #ElżbietaZawacka, aka ‘#Zo’, died #otd 2009.
She was the only woman in the Polish special force #paramilitary, the #cichociemni or #silentunseen, to be parachuted into occupied #Poland in the #secondworldwar. By then she had already played a crucial role in the underground resistance.
I am writing her remarkable story now, working title #AgentZo #WomanOnAMission, to be published by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in 2024…

Beautiful party under the stars, & partly under a parachute, last night!
Life & writing collide again as I’ve just been describing #AgentZo’s parachuting dramas in 1943!
