Very sorry to learn of the death of Polish hero #ZbigniewMieczkowski.
A war hero himself, Zbigniew was also among the last to see #KrystynaSksrbek aka #ChristineGranville, alive. ‘She had strong emotions’, he told me over dinner. ‘In love, and war.’ Then he kissed my hand, clicked his heels, and insisted on paying for our meal.
This Telegraph obit is good, but for those who would like to know more, please look for Zbigniew’s wonderful memoir, #Horizons, and my biography of Krystyna, #TheSpyWhoLoved.

As it’s #WorldBookDay, here’s me working on my first book, knackered, with 3 little ones & a #ProperJob!
Now I have 3 published books, focusing mainly on women in conflict. #TheWomanWhoSavedTheChildren , #TheSpyWhoLoved & #TheWomenWHoFlewForHitler
The 4th, #AgentZo, is on the way… so I’m still sat typing at a desk 📙📗📕📘

This woman loved danger & adrenalin. She loved men. But most of all she loved freedom. She was Britain's first female #SpecialAgent of the #SecondWorldWar & her name was #KrystynaSkarbek aka #ChristineGranville #TheSpyWhoLoved.
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
Last time I was at the National Army Museum I spoke about #KrystynaSkarbek aka #christinegranville #theSpyWhoLoved.
On 24 Feb I'll be back, telling the extraordinary story of Nazi Germany's only 2 female test pilots #thewomenwhoflewforhitler
It's not the story you might expect... (One of them tried to kill him.)
I love it when the annual #library public lending statement comes in.
Thank you v much to the 394 readers who borrowed a copy of one of my books, #TheWomanWhoSavedTheChildren, #TheSpyWhoLoved & #TheWomenWhoFlewForHitler.
I now have £120.29 to spend on… probably #books! 📚📖

The wonderful #WW2 veteran, Maj. Zbigniew Mieczykowski has died. One of the last people to see #KrystynaSkarbek (#ChristineGranville) alive, he shared his stories for my bk, #TheSpyWhoLoved. His own memoir, #Horizons, is hugely evocative of time & place, & of his own character. He will be missed.
The 1st female #specialagent to serve #Britain in #WW2 set off today in #1939…
She served in 3 theatres of the war, saved at least 3 men’s lives, secured the defectn of a Nazi garrison, & much more.
Her name was #KrystynaSkarbek aka #ChristineGranville #OBE #GeorgeMedal #CroixDeGuerre #TheSpyWhoLoved
Another #introduction to mark #HistoryAuthorsDay22: here’s me with my 3 books… so far: #TheWomanWhoSavedTheChildren (but not much fond of an individual child), #TheSpyWhoLoved (freedom)? & #TheWomenWHoFlewForHitler (& ended up on opposite dudes of history)!
I’m hugely looking forward to contributing to this Anglo-Polish conference at #CambridgeUni on 7 Dec. I’ll be talking about the first female special agent to serve Britain in #WW2, #KrystynaSkarbek, aka #ChristineGranville, #TheSpyWhoLoved.
