As a parent AND a digital #narrative warrior, I was excited to see this yesterday. It's a conversation we very much need to be having--as families & as a society--and Cynthia has been leading the charge on it for some time.

But then I came upon this passage, which has gnawed at me since:

"RK: When discussing misogyny, sexism, and gender-based bigotry, how does the book Man Up manage nonbinary issues with gender?

Dr. M-I: By defining misogyny not as hatred of women (which is how it’s understood in popular usage), but rather as the policing of patriarchal norms and expectations. Misogyny, then, is a kind of law enforcement arm of the patriarchy for policing all genders."

I do understand where she's coming from with this, ESPECIALLY in the context of the #manosphere--which IS, after all, our subject here. But expanding this definition this way is problematic in the same way the IHRA's attempt to expand how we define #antisemitism is: it makes it possible to treasure & value the contributions a group makes to our shared society, vigorously defend their rights to self-determination in it, welcome & support advances in their safety & their freedom to participate in it as THEY see fit...yet still be tarred with a pejorative implying our bigoted & irrational hatred for them SIMPLY FOR EXERCISING OUR OWN, Constitutionally-protected right to submit OURSELVES to God's decree as we understand it, and to speak and publish freely in defense of its guidance--just as the IHRA definition would tar me as an antisemite for opposing #IsraelAtWarCrimes even though I also defend its right to exist, in peace, as a Jewish state, and love my spiritual cousins among #AbrahamsChildren.

There's a lot of nuance here--as Cynthia actually does a pretty good job of acknowledging: just as there are ABSOLUTELY actual antisemites (e.g., Nick Fuentes, Candace Owens, Tucker Carlson) trying to adhere themselves to the #JusticeForPalestine movement as a cover for their vile hatred, there are plenty of ACTUAL MISOGYNISTS using theological language to cover for theirs. And while I've always urged folks to follow Jesus' own advice in Matthew 7 for discerning the difference: "By THEIR FRUITS you will know them" (in other words, the dangerous ones are the ones using their speech TO CALL FOR THE INFRINGEMENT OF RIGHTS OR THE SHUNNING OF NEIGHBORS IN *THIS* WORLD for those who turn away from their call), in 2025 there can be no doubt that the misogynist wolves currently running our government LONG CLOAKED THEMSELVES IN the right to free exercise of their faith WHILE PLOTTING TO infringe the rights & compel shunning of neighbors who turn away from their call. And nowhere is this truer than in the manosphere.

Still, we need to be careful not to throw the Constitutional baby our with the fascist bathwater--and expanding how we define misogyny to encompass faith-based arguments we don't like because they've been abused to justify oppression TOO would put us at just that risk.

This raises some critical issues for us to be thinking about. I doubt that Rosenberg and I are in *complete* agreement: if you're a Palestinian American, it can a blurry line between targeting someone BECAUSE THEY'RE VISIBLY DISPLAYING THEY ARE A JEW (his Star of David necklace example) and targeting someone because they're visibly aligning themselves, in time of war, with The Jewish State™ that just slaughtered your entire family. Israel in fact DELIBERATELY & EXPLICITLY LEVERAGES those blurry lines in WEAPONIZING ACCUSATIONS OF antisemitism so they can exploit polling data like this by rendering it more difficult to tease out such distinctions. But Rosenberg explicitly acknowledges there's nuance, so even there we may be closer than I'm assuming.

And the more important point to recognize is that there are malign actors ON THE OTHER SIDE who are ALSO exploiting that blurry line, using #IsraelAtWarCrimes and its #genocide of Palestinians TO RENDER THEIR ANTISEMITISM MORE SOCIALLY PALATABLE. I'm finding it increasingly necessary to caution pro-Palestinian folks against embracing the critiques of Israel that we're starting to hear from #MAGAts like Candace Owen's and Marjorie Taylor Greene and Tucker Carlson, because they've been famously antisemitic for years, and tarnish our cause when we appear to welcome them: some 'allies' aren't worth having.

And that brings us back to Rosenberg's central theme: there IS rising antisemitism in America right now for reasons that have more to do with the resurgence OF FASCISM than they do with The Jewish State™ committing genocide. The Nazis would like to peel us away from the coalition against them by pretending to be our allies--but as the Qur'an warns us, such people are allies only to one another. On the Last Day, the true Ummah of Prophet Moses is going to enter alongside those of Jesus and Muhammad into the gates of paradise, and we must guard against the devil's attempts to leverage ANY issue to turn #AbrahamsChildren against each other when we need to be uniting AGAINST HIM. #JummahMusings

Two years ago, I argued that the most important lesson for Israel (and Israeli voters) to learn from what had just happened was that NO amount of securitization, NO amount of #EthnicCleansing, NO amount of #apartheid or killing, and NO amount of sacrifice of their civil rights, their humanity, or their standing in the eyes of the world was EVER going to allow Israelis to sleep securely in their beds--no matter HOW deep inside "fortress Israel"--so long as the illegal occupation of Palestinian lands & oppression of the Palestinian people continued. A new approach--one focused on #JusticeForPalestine AS WELL AS security for Israel--was going to be needed, if #AbrahamsChildren on BOTH sides were ever going to be able to grow up free from the omnipresent scourge of war & terror.

Today, #IsraelAtWarCrimes has not only FAILED TO learn that lesson; they've DOUBLED DOWN on the failed approach of the past, with a two-year #genocide that will not only be unable TO PREVENT the next round of attacks, but will GUARANTEE it (and perhaps the next 9/11 as well, owing to our prominent role as #GenocidesBodyguards), with an entire generation around the world mobilized to the cause. And the #AllianceOfZionists "peace plan" that's just been unveiled to carve up the corpse can only serve to exacerbate this.

The NEXT round of attacks on Israel may even come empowered with the might OF NATION STATES, whose electorates--raised amidst livestreamed #CrimesAgainsHumanity by a militarily & economically potent, nuclear-armed power against a poor & devastated people who have borne their brunt FOR THREE QUARTERS OF A CENTURY--are waking, FINALLY, to their obligations under the UN Genocide Convention to make "Never Again" more than a catchy slogan.
