So, I'm a panelist at #AWP2024. I'm disabled, trans and in enforced poverty due to my reliance on health benefits. I thought I Might get a scholarship to cover my fee. Nope. (There's a fee for Invited panelists, btw. Fun.)

Ok, I think, they must be reserving most of them for More marginalized people with Extreme need. Another panelist just checked in and She didn't get one either. She's a Black, femme, Recently Homeless, Disabled Single Mother!!!

WHO got these scholarships, please?

To say I feel conflicted right now is superduper under-stating it. Results of #EMG testing mean hand and wrist surgery, both, and cervical spinal surgery. I will be completing some MRI studies in early December that they're expecting to show I'm also in need of lumbar surgery.

So of course, to avoid thinking too hard about all of That, I'm focusing instead on how I Really want to fulfill my speaking engagement at the #AWP2024 conference and I am going to be MASSIVELY upset if I cant.

Just booked my travel for the #AWP2024 Conference in Kansas City, MO. As a trans, ill, wheelchair user there's an entire layer of risk to this trip that many don't take on. At the same time, I'm going to be speaking as part of a panel on Neurodivergence and Disability in writing practice, and I'm keenly aware that my trans, wheeled body Will make a statement by speaking in that space. So, risk and all, here I go! My partners have until February to try talk me out of it. Lol #disability #writer

hey #writers - I'm setting up a panel for #AWP2024 on #Writing #MentalHealth and if anyone's interested, I have to get it submitted TONIGHT 6/1/23 by 11pm US central time. DM me for the title and more info.
