Happy #CloudStrikeDay! How are you celebrating?
Questions today about tradeshows on #AVinTheAM on that other platform.
It's incredible to me how fast we forgot the lessons of the pandemic when it comes to accessibility and neurodiverse individuals being able to "attend" shows. We're right back to 2019.
No virtual component. No nothing for the people who can't travel or even get around the shows easily.
And now, no masks.
Do I think it's helpful to see equipment in person? Sure, if it's a training session for a small group or a curated speaker shootout. Otherwise, tradeshows are just social contests for extroverts and nightmares for us introverts.
I still miss the #AVinTheAM conversations on Sunday mornings. Just feels like something is missing around 8am Eastern time.
That said, the ache will never be enough to get me to log back into #Twitter
@NJDavidD - Because I'm the curious type, and I'm procrastinating about going out today, I checked in on #AVinTheAM today.

Back to thinking about what could be next.
Worst weeks to get work projects moving:
Week of Thanksgiving
Weeks before, during, and after industry shows
Week of Independence Day if it falls on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday
Two weeks around Christmas and New Year's
Labor day and Memorial day can also be tricky but usually aren't as bad.
These weeks will always fall at the worst possible time for your project.
With the #Infocomm23 convention this week, some #avtweeps are defaulting back to using Twitter as a home base for direct group messaging between folx from different countries and areas. I get why. It's worked in the past and, honestly, the group DM was a powerful tool when linked to a functioning social media site.
I'm sorry but I just don't get why anyone, many who consider themselves an "ally", still use Twitter for any reason. It's not about your politics. It's about human rights and the safety of the people you claim to be friends of.
Twitter is not a safe space for #LGBTQ peeps. If you want to reach us, don't force us to log back into the trainwreck that is Twitter in 2023.
