> On this International Women’s Day, the African Sex Workers Alliance (ASWA) joins women’s rights movements around the world in celebrating the strength, leadership, and resilience of women and girls. This year’s theme, Give to Gain reflects a powerful truth within social justice movements: when women support, uplift, and invest in one another, progress becomes possible.

> For sex workers across Africa, giving has always been at the center of our movement. As sex workers we continue to give our voices to demand justice, give our leadership to strengthen community organizing, and give our solidarity to ensure that no one is left behind. Through this collective commitment, sex workers are building stronger communities, advancing health and human rights, and challenging the stigma and discrimination that continue to shape our lives.

> Across the continent, sex workers are leading advocacy efforts, supporting one another through peer led initiatives, and working tirelessly to ensure that our rights and dignity are recognized. These contributions are vital to the broader struggle for gender equality, social justice, and human rights.

> However, many sex workers still face violence, criminalization, and systemic exclusion from policies and programs meant to protect women. Achieving true gender equality requires acknowledging and addressing these injustices. It requires recognizing sex workers as leaders, community organizers, and human rights defenders whose voices and experiences must be part of decision making spaces.

> On this International Women’s Day, ASWA calls on governments, civil society, development partners, and feminist movements to stand in solidarity with sex workers and commit to policies and practices that protect our rights, safety, and dignity.

> When sex workers are supported to lead, organize, and advocate, entire communities benefit.

> This International Women’s Day let us remember when women give solidarity, leadership, and courage to one another, we all gain a more just, inclusive, and equal world.

> Together, we give. Together, we gain.

> “Sex Work is Work” is more than a slogan it is a demand for human rights.
> This 3 March, the African Sex Workers Alliance stands firm in the fight for decriminalization and universal healthcare. We won't stop until every sex worker can live and work with safety and dignity.
> Solidarity forever! ✊✊✊
