We've been looking for an alternative to the 128MB PC Card hard disk for our 1995 Minolta RD-175 3CCD DSLR camera; the issue is that even if we could easily get our hands on a PC Card-to-SD card adapter, we can't format the storage, because the camera doesn't have that functionality built in, and we'd need to connect the camera to a PC with compatible software, and a SCSI port, neither of which we have access to, in order to format it.

We don't know exactly how this camera works, but if it can only handle 128MB of storage, we imagine we'd be better off modifying the camera to be able to handle 32GB SD cards, at least, as well as be capable of formatting the cards appropriately on its own.

Anyone know how we might go about doing that?

All we know is it'll require installing something more powerful than what's already in there, since all it can do on its own is write to the PC Card hard disk, provided there's space left, and it's properly formatted.

Remember the floppy disk? This humble piece of technology was the cornerstone of data storage in the 80s and 90s. With a capacity of 1.44MB, it could store text documents, small programs, and even games. They were the go-to for transferring files before USB drives and cloud storage took over. It’s amazing to think how far we've come since then!
