@irisjaycomics It has never, as far as I can tell, been a stupid idea.
It could be done right, even under the pre-existing system, avoiding the "spoiler effect" by planning all along to have the 3rdParty candidate endorse the less-evil Major Party candidate (unless the very unlikely happens and the #3PC seems to be likely to win) -- all while pushing the Overton Window to the left in speeches, editorials, debates, etc.
With internet tech, it could be even better: the 3PC could run a site which actively polls its supporters (and maybe others as well) on policy positions, provides space for hashing out the details of issues, and generally coming up with the best possible policy.
Assuming we still do "voting" in 2026, that might actually be a good time for a relatively-low-stakes run of the system.
Now we just need to find some truly progressive Congressional candidates and build a system for them in a year or less...
