Context is probably helpful. The two FMCs can't have a dialogue because they don't know each other's languages. But Khu, the mermaid, knows one word Maylees, the human, used before.

An idea of who the MC is. This is as much for me as for the reader.

For Veronica I committed the unforgivable sin of having her examine herself in a mirror, just the way new writers are always advised not to do, but I knew exactly what I was doing.

What I didn't do was describe her features, hair colour or whatever. I was emphasising that she considers herself ugly because of her physical deformity, and that's how she defines herself.

As a side note, this is one of my earliest renders (Feb 2020).

#ScribesAndMakers 6/21. Our next featured creator works collaboratively with their partner, often working in worlds the other created. Do you create work based on the creations of others? (Eg. Pop art, fan art, fan fic, etc.) Why or why not?

Not in writing so far, though if I ever get around to my sapphic War of the Worlds re-telling the answer will become "yes".

"Why not?" because "Why?" I have plenty of my own ideas, in fact limitless ideas.

Then I remembered that time I wrote an audio play based on a Eurhythmics song (I had a vague idea of doing a series of them - I didn't).

As 3D render practice I sometimes take movie scenes and try to recreate them, with varying degrees of success. It's good training.

I wouldn't say I "seek to imitate", just that it simply is cinematic - because that's what I see in my mind when I'm writing.
