Made a teeny version of my star lamp as a necklace for the Brass Butterflies aerial show I'm performing in on Saturday. Instead of using a diffusion plate behind the face plate I printed a plate in the same colour as the rest of the necklace pendant. I'm hoping this will add some fun visual complexity.
Next step is to glue a magnet to the back of the pendant so the necklace can stick to the magnet in the costume of the performer who will be wearing the necklace. I also need to drill a couple holes for a necklace chain to pass through the tip of the star. If I have time I'll also carefully dremel out some of the excess superglue holding the backplate and pendant together to clean up the look of the piece. If I had more time to work on this piece I'd be figuring out how to electroplate it too, but I'll have to save that skill pickup for another project.
My favourite part of all this prop making is learning how much I absolutely love making props and art pieces. This is all so fulfilling, especially with all the new skills I am picking up. I am full of joy.
