The floof on these ears is more than 100% reflective and together with the NIR compliant hat it fools the auto-exposure on my iPhone and photos come out like this

Summer phase R&D went more quickly than I expected as it turns out I can wear my ears over a boonie hat without modifying the hat... though slots in the brim would make it a little neater. Here I am backlit so you can see my floof and my ear's floof.
