2022 In Review

Happenings in 2022: In no particular order. * Went to the NHL Winter Classic at Target Field for about half the game before I gave up -- it was very, very cold, especially once the last of the sun went down. * Went to Anna and Elisabeth's wedding * met many delightful folks

Couldn’t post this earlier this afternoon when I actually finished, because that was when I noticed our Mastodon instance had gone down (problems with self-hosting… sigh). Fortunately, nothing a reboot couldn’t fix, so without further adieu:

My 2022 year in review. This post is pretty raw, but in the interest of what may become my 2023 mantra—“be brave about putting things out in the world”—I didn’t want to hold back. #YearInReview #2022InReview

Here are my top 5 movies, TV episodes and books of 2022. My favorite things were largely defined by a mood of mourning and feeling adrift, though I also had to look up the pronouns for a sentient, genderless egg yolk.

2022 was full of challenges, but it was also a year of milestones toward a better future, scientific breakthroughs, and stories of hope.

This past year:

- We (Abbi & I) adopted a Babirusa from Chester Zoo

- We (Rita & I) put on not one but two exhibitions in the Lake District thinking about Ridiculous Romantics in portrait and landscape

- We (EHU Nineteen including our wonderful MA students) organised BARS/NASSR 2022 ‘New Romanticisms’ online and in person, bringing all the Romanticists to our yard

- We (mainly Wilbur) oversaw renovations to our house-hopefully not too long into 2023 we’ll have a kitchen again!

Mercury is retrograde, so I created this video and playlist with a recap of my most popular videos of 2022. It's great to look back. What a year this has been!

As I reflect on #2022, I am happy to say that prioritizing my health and leaving a long held job in 2021 is the best decision I made last year. I left the #toxicity and #stress behind. I started a new job in Jan 2022 and couldn't be happier. Better environment and #empathy. I took a leap of faith and believed in myself. I hope to keep the positivity going in #2023 and beyond. #2022InReview #HappyNewYear

I can’t believe it’s 2023!  Looking back on 2022, I have to say it was a pretty good year for me. It was a bit of a year of saying “Yes” for me, by saying “Yes” to more things I wanted...
