“Sketchbook Comic: Book 3” is my personal sketchbook, where I juxtapose my art with writing about my experiences as a non-binary, chronically ill person.

"their diverse combinations of colour and form, at times, as though microscopic magnifications from a biology textbook, and at others, as if some kind of geological precursor to the 50s experiments of Abstract Expressionism."

Images depicting ferruginous variation from a 19th-century geological paper, at times like some kind of geological precursor to the 50s experiments of Abstract Expressionism.

On a gut level, this is possibly the most apt framing of "AI" and its consequent "disruptions" that I've seen.

IMO it is no overstatement to correlate "AI" with death, nor apprehensions against it with grief for what we are already losing to it.

Audrey Watters, "AI grief observed" (with thanks to @Kjaerulv who brought it to my attention):

AI Grief Observed

These remarks were delivered this evening at the Creatively Critical Tech Speaker Series at Illinois State University. "There is no good way to say this." These are the opening words of Yiyun Li’s latest book Things in Nature Only Grow about life after the death by suicide of both

In his essay “Comic Gold” @AlexAndriesse writes about the comic books of the California Gold Rush era and the recurring figure of the effete Eastern urbanite who travels to the Wild West in quest of his fortune: https://publicdomainreview.org/essay/comic-gold-the-easterner-goes-west-in-three-early-american-comics

For a while I struggled with this perceived creative deadwater, approached it as a block I could chip away at. Lately, I've realised that I just don't have a lot to say, beyond just saying or typing them plainly.

The urge to express myself creatively is more or less gone, certainly the sense that anything I produce carries particular weight. Is it middle age, personal or professional hardship? Or perhaps just a fallow period where I need to hear and see stuff rather than be heard and seen.

Apparently, on other platforms, people are sharing videos of a deadly shooting. There was also a mass shooting at a high school in Colorado today.

Please remember to think about the folks who follow you here. If you must post about it, be sure to use CWs and do not post it on the Public Local vis.social timeline. Make sure you set your privacy levels to quiet or to followers only.

And do NOT post videos of the shooting taking place!
