Missed this when it first came out but just caught it because of its 25th anniversary expanded re-release - this is 'Caged' by Chris Carter (of Throbbing Gristle) and Ian Boddy, originally released in 2000.

A VERY cool record-- it's a great, creeping, super synthy ambient electronic masterwork.

Beck's excellent record 'Guero' came out yesterday (March 29) in 2005. I was really big on this one. I'm big on Beck in general, but this is really one of my favorites of his. Some wild stuff on this one. I bought it right when it came out, and I still have my copy- that special version with a DVD. Worth a listen if you haven't heard it, and a relisten if you have 🔥

Been listening to a lot of Morphine again lately. Every time I'm listening to The Night and think my favorite song is Souvenir (it's one of my favorite songs ever), I hear Rope on Fire again and it probably has to take the top spot. I'm always just blown away by the lyrics, the dynamics, the minimal/mellow Eastern feel of this song. It's magic.

22 years ago today on July 9, 2002, Superdrag released Last Call for Vitriol, the last Superdrag album til 2009's Industry Giants. It was a darker kind of record, John Davis was going through stuff. But it spawned amazing songs, from intro track 'Baby Goes to 11' with Robert Pollard guesting to the last notes of the bluesy Drag Me Closer to You.

This album is special to me, I have the hand and match from the cover tattooed on my upper right arm (no photo, it BADLY needs touching up), and my wedding ring has 'Hannah goes to 11' inscribed in it. I sing it to her sometimes haha. What an album 🔥

Happy 23rd anniversary to Weezer's green album, released today (May 15) in 2001. Man, did I listen to this album a lot, and I still can. Might be my favorite Weezer record but I hate the last song - luckily it's last and I can just turn it off when it comes on. 😂
