And that's another game wrapped: I just finished A Forest, my #nonviolent tradtional #roguelike. While designing a non-violent roguelike, I might have
accidentally stumbled into interactive fiction.

I'm a little anxious to share it, because it's not up to my preferred completion standard, but I participated in Roguetemple's Fortnight event, making a roguelike-take on Horizon: Zero Dawn :)
(Or at least, a passable prototype of one)
Streaming a little #roguelike #14DRL #gamedev on Twitch, if anyone's interested in hanging out.
Day 1 results for my #14drl #gamejam: https://bsky.app/profile/drewwww.bsky.social/post/3lxte76q3wc2a
Sorry for not fully cross-posting, too tired to re-upload everything. 😴
Day 1 #14drl is done. Here's basic gameplay at this point. You can move around and click on enemies to shoot them. You can swap weapons with number keys. It takes a turn, though, so don't let enemies get too close before you switch to your knife. Oh, and watch your ammo and reload when you can!
Kicking off a game jam today! I'm taking part in the #14drl event. It's a 14 day game jam, focused on "traditional" roguelikes. https://itch.io/jam/roguetemples-fortnight
Staying "traditional" means combat, items, and progression -- elements I haven't explored in past games.
Stay tuned! Or mute!
I'm prepping for #14drl #roguelike game jam starting in ~10 days. I think I've got my tech selections pretty stable and the outlines of a game design.
Here's my (very rough, mostly incomprehensible beyond page 1) pre-jam design thinking: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iTWqd9br6944DuKysxqC0YUqzb7J4iCEwU6A0JFWuh4/edit?tab=t.0
Curious to hear if any of this strikes a chord with anyone!
I'll be sharing in-progress pictures and videos during the jam.
RECLAIMER is a traditional roguelike focused on improvisational tactical combat. Use ranged and melee weapons to clear out waves of hostile bots. Conserve ammo by using the environment as your weapon: smashing enemies into walls, igniting volatile substances, and breaking power conduits. Use your...
