The Teletext Archive has linked up with @ZXGuesser's archive, which has loads of recoveries, and then some. We have an automated process bringing them in to The Teletext Archive, currently at the rate of two per night. So there will be at least two new services a day going forward! QTeletextMaker v0.6.5-beta released. The Level 2.5 #teletext editor now has monochrome rendering modes so you can see what sixels are foreground and background. It also warns if enhancements are going to appear in the wrong place on Level 1.5 decoders.

Grab a Windows .exe from the zip at https://github.com/gkthemac/QTeletextMaker/releases/tag/0.6.5-beta (mind the Windows Defender SmartScreen warnings!) or compile the source on Linux with Qt 6 and CMake.

Thinking outside the box for the #WeeklyTeletextArt "pirates" prompt.

Taking classic Level 1 #teletext decoders into account with "safety" foreground blue so the black foreground doesn't get hidden, and "safety" double height so ignored double size doesn't leave a spurious black stripe.

@heesdaman ik kan me niet herinneren dat we ooit gratis internet hadden bij teletekst. 'Internet' was vooral van na die tijd.
Wel heb ii gewerkt met Videotext (variant op t Franse Viditel) dat hier eigenlijk gewoon flopte, omdat het idee maar half overgenomen werd. Wel het systeem, maar niet het hele land verzuipen in de bijbehorende kastjes.
Dat moest allemaal aangeschaft en guess what? Dat gebeurde onvoldoende.😅

@vosje62 Je belde van huis een nummer (van Delft meen ik) en kreeg dan een code. Die code gaf je met je afstandsbediening in en dan werd je naar je eigen pagina gestuurd. Volgens mij konden er 100 tegelijk van gebruikmaken.

Ja, Viditel. Alle Fransen aan de Viditel. En het was overal. Als vervanging van telefoonboeken meen ik. Maar seks was de grootste drijfveer. Ik heb nog een (soortgelijke) terminal thuis gehad. Met ingebouwd 300 bps (je mocht geen Baud zeggen) modem!

Inderdaad. Dat flopte geloof ik gelijk aan het begin.

Ja .. videotext was 80% van de diensten heel netjes, maar die 20% overige diensten draaiden 80% van de omzet. Zonder sex, chats en contacten was de stekker er snel uitgetrokken. 😉
T draaide op gewoon op een computer en snellere modem.

@vosje62 Stom hè? Het het werkt nog steeds zo. Staat mij bij dat actrices in natuurfilms klaagden dat hun uiterlijk met dat scherpe beeld niet goed uit de verf zou komen. Ik hoor er tegenwoordig niets meer over. Maar terzijde.

@heesdaman ik had aan eind een chat dienst daar draaien. In de wetenschap dat er aan videotex een eind kwam, maar om ervaring op te doen.
Beveiliging van internet bleek echter ver achter te blijven waardoor privacy niet gegarandeerd was. Ben toen wat anders gaan doen. Uiteindelijk gaan timmeren, een half jaar voor die it crash. Ik geloofde niet zo dat maximale verliezen het nieuwe normaal waren.

Swedish public service TV still supports teletext and I use it daily to catch up on the day's headlines, via the antenna on the roof.

Back in the 70's I bought a DIY kit to make a home terminal connected to a 300 baud acoustic modem for school. It used a teletext chip and simply hooked up to my TV. So cool.
