@JTDType @Okay the year after we bought this apartment, first floor and basement level in a 100yo building, this neighborhood flooded so badly that we ended up having to tear out all the drywall downstairs and replace with FEMA help

previous owners had, I guess, felt like the drainage in the basement is too unsightly, and so tiled the thing over

so I feel you both

@jesserewing maybe, yeah
@jesserewing near as I can tell it’s not software to them, it’s more like clip art
@simoncozens BA DUM BUM
I personally feel like these are just communication issues that could be addressed during the shopping and purchansing experience—but they're issues I'd never heard before first-hand

hi everyone—I have a few notes on type licensing from within an industry: medical (US)

(my company makes custom wheelchair cushions for people who live in their chair 24/7)

1) font licensing for these folks, unaccustomed to thinking about it, is very weird. nobody understands why some but not all foundries charge based on licensee's size. for seat-based licenses, none of them understands why they should buy for the number of users when there is no material difference in what they download. none of them understand why an OEM license exists.

2) there's zero understanding of why a font file from a craftsperson is any different from a free font.

this was pretty eye-opening for me—thought it might be helpful to you folks

@FontsInUse TY I’d forgotten about Shelley

political people are losing their minds that this appeared outside the oval office—probably just a mockup (note that it’s printed on paper)

but I couldn’t find a Commercial Script variant that actually matched it—does anyone know what it is?

I’m actually just curious what typeface sources this administration knows about considering the obviously quotidian taste level

hi, some personal news, listed:

1) House of Pretty Ltd and its domain are no more

2) House of Pretty has been supplanted by Texts, LLC, which is at textsss.com (because it’s funny to talk about such a deeply sibilant URL)

3) I don’t know what Texts does yet, because I got a great job offer—and took it—literally the same week I established Texts, thereby blowing a hole in my plans, but that’s ok

3) XO Type Co is fine! and still there!

@benkiel I am so much more consistently angry at Music now

you can’t favorite tracks anywhere but the main player window any more

(I’m really annoyed about that since I do a lot of music discovery while I work)
