#microsoftTeams autocorrecting #systemd to system is infuriating
i've never bonded interfaces on #linux before but now I have a machine with a 2.5Gbps and 1Gbps ethernet card, wiht the devices bonded together (active-passive) so that I have a redundant link that can tolerate one of the cables being disconnected.
ugh so i've managed to go 2 evenings with #ipv4 disabled on my laptop (#ipv6 only) but now I need to read tickets and commits on #btrfs repo on github so I can learn what support there is or will be in the future for disk groups.
So I managed two days of #ipv6only.
#lunar overshoes
someone should design #hightops #trainers that look like these. I would wear them.
lol - the first website on the internet https://info.cern.ch/ supports #ipv6 but https://github.com doesn't. Embarrassing!

a note about /etc/nsswitch.conf and #ipv6

mdns4_minimal in /etc/nsswitch.conf unsurprisingly breaks .local type names in an ipv6 environment. Surprising behaviour such as ssh xxx.local timing out, but ssh -6 xxx.local working.

hosts: files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns myhostname

Once mdns4_minimal is changed to mdns_minimal or mdns6_minimal, ssh xxx.local works without needing "-i6" parameter.

Hi @MastodonEngineering and @staff, I'm on mastodon.social and would love to follow @[email protected], but I can't because his instance is IPv6-only. Is there any chance that mastodon.social could support federation with IPv6-only instances in the near future? This would improve federation for everyone. Thanks for your time!

#IPv6

I've been playing with #ipv6 by switching ipv4 off on my laptop. I tried to access a few websites that came to mind. All a bit techy. Surprised to learn github can't cope with ipv6!

THESE WORKED
reddit.com
mastodon.social
phoronix.com
youtube.com
lwn.net
news.ycombinator.com
gitlab.com
microsoft.com
google.com

THESE DIDN'T WORK
github.com
bbc.co.uk
bsky.app
x.com

I have an #icotera i4850 router from my ISP. While it lets you configure IPV4 dns servers, there is no way to configure the ipv6 rdnss servers that it sends you via ipv6 router advertisement messages. So you have to find another way to configure ipv6 dns servers if you want to avoid isp ones. And worse, if you have a machine wiht ipv4 and ipv6, it could pick up dns servers from ipv4 that you had overridden and mix them with ipv6 dns servers from your isp that you can't override.
I just did an #ipv6 survey. Mastodon.social - passed. x.com - failed. bsky.app - failed.
