The more news about Microsoft‘s OS efforts the happier I am I moved to Linux recently.

M365 is still superb value, mind you.

A folding tablet is a far more interesting proposition to me than a folding phone.

Folded 7-8” screen for on the go, reading manga and books, fold out to 10-12” for bigger comics, art, productivity apps etc..

FBI Seizure of Mastodon Server Data is a Wakeup Call to Fediverse Users and Hosts to Protect their Users

We’re in an exciting time for users who want to take back control from major platforms like Twitter and Facebook. However, this new environment comes with challenges and risks for user privacy, so we need to get it right and make sure networks like the Fediverse and Bluesky are mindful of past...

@hex that’s not true.. THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE!
@retrohistories Huzzah! And you’re welcome 😃
@neil @waltertross @suetanvil I’d also say general poorer performance and resource usage are key factors. Most users just want something that works and works well. Chromium-based browsers have Firefox well beaten for resource usage (especially Edge) and for overall speed. Firefox “feels” just a little clunky around the edges and (not saying this is right) that is enough to put many off.

@cspam

The company said its gross profit margin fell to 18.2%Oh no! Anyway..

@retrohistories potentially related to Stargate Universe / Atlantis? (Whichever one has little ships they called Puddle Jumpers)
@suetanvil @neil @waltertross Firefox really isn’t anything like as slick or optimised as it could (should?) be. I’ve said before that Mozilla are too often too complacent about it. Being “not Chrome” just isn’t good enough to be a viable replacement for the average user :-(
@neil @Jourei I think Drive and Docs are safe for the foreseeable given their business contracts connected to them. Gmail too for numerous reasons.

The things that have been around a while tend to stick. It’s the newer things from G you need to be wary of.
