Don't let a tool alter your power of decision making. Your ability to make those comes from your lived experiences. You observe and decipher the world around you every waking moment.

Every small and big choice you make is guided by the sum of knowledge AND real-world interactions that happened in your life exactly a moment before you made that choice. Giving up that agency is deeply and structurally troublesome.

Be as irritable and quarrelsome as possible without getting yourself into trouble.
there is a thread on the krita-artists forum asking about an llm policy, i think it would be good that we make our voices heard that there is no place for genai anywhere, and especially not in a program for artists

make sure to stay polite and civil!

as this is a very important issue, tell like-minded people about it

edit: keep in mind that halla is only one developer, and there are multiple. some are more positive on genai, sadly. monitor the situation, share your views and stay vigilant
Policy on LLM code?

Speaking as the Krita maintainer, I don’t want us to accept any LLM-generated code into Krita. Some may say, as long as the contributor understands the code it’s fine, but that’s a fallacy. No programmer really fully understands the code they are working with (otherwise bugzilla would be empty); but with LLM-generated code they haven’t even put any thought into it. That code will be unmaintainable. And that’s even completely apart from the fact that using LLM’s to generate code lowers your co...

Is there anything Microsoft is not doing these days?

LinkedIn Is Illegally Searching Your Computer

Microsoft is running one of the largest corporate espionage operations in modern history. Every time any of LinkedIn’s one billion users visits linkedin.com, hidden code searches their computer for installed software, collects the results, and transmits them to LinkedIn’s servers and to third-party companies including an American-Israeli cybersecurity firm. The user is never asked. Never told. LinkedIn’s privacy policy does not mention it. Because LinkedIn knows each user’s real name, employer, and job title, it is not searching anonymous visitors. It is searching identified people at identified companies. Millions of companies. Every day. All over the world.

I just want to remind folks who are cheering on the AI Bubble Burst, nobody will be immune to it happening.

The capitalists bet nearly everything on it and if they lose (which they most likely will), what we're experiencing now is only going to get materially worse.

Now is the time to get organized!

if people stopped giving all these corporations their age or id/kyc info and just canceled their subscriptions or accounts for 4 months we'd see how fast they stop asking once those next quarter results show up.

governments would wake up pretty fast with less VAT, GST, and Tax revenue, too. you give them an inch and they will take a mile. cut that inch and cut their source of revenue, and they will all fall in line.

that is the only solution to all these stupid laws.

The idea that one should be forced to verify one's age or identity to use one's own computer absolutely baffles me.
A billionaire can get what they want with one donation to a political party. The rest of us must fight for years to get even the most basic rights recognised. Money destroys democracy, more than any other cause. The first step towards a better world is to stop the rich buying political outcomes.

The person with 2 years of food storage and no relationships is less resilient than the person with 2 months of storage and a neighborhood that gives a shit about each other.

Public health isn't some privilege that successful societies get to enjoy when every other condition is met, it is the foundational condition that must be met before any society can be successful
