Hello, I'm an ex academical researcher in computer graphics, currently 3D programmer at Ubisoft Annecy.

I did a PhD on procedural generation of cloudscapes, and then developped a specific interest for participating media rendering.

@aeva hey, that reminds me of myself stripping everything from the official vulkan tutorial just to run a bunch of compute shaders. It was interesting to progressively remove parts from the thing before breaking it; like cleaning up a room by sending a lot of things flying through the window, nope don't need those things 😜 😜

Also, who has ever seen a square root or even a cubic root, crazy scientists...
@acegikmo let's generalize all the way through the regular polygons on the way to the limit of the circle?

Researchers discover a new form of scientific fraud: Uncovering 'sneaked references'

A researcher working alone—apart from the world and the rest of the wider scientific community—is a classic yet misguided image. Research is, in reality, built on continuous exchange within the scientific community: First you understand the work of others, and then you share your findings.

@SimonDev nice one, I watched it two days ago! Any idea if the article has been submitted, or is on the way to be published?
@BartWronski @mattpharr @marcosalvi nice paper, and thx for the heads up about it being a refined version of a previous one ❤️; my first reaction was to wonder if I didn't see something similar before ^^.

New blog post: Demystifying multiple importance sampling

It is a simple thing that turns out to be confusing to a lot of us rendering engineers. I try to explain it in detail here with path-tracing examples!

@jeffpalmer wouldn't the microwave kill some of the starter?
@jeffpalmer yes, those days, my starter doubles over the night, but sometimes it's a bit colder and I put my starter jar on top of a heater in the morning, and that's even better as that's when the heaters are catching up after the night anyway. A very low setting in the oven could also do the trick :)
@jeffpalmer wow, such commitment fellow sourdough baker! How much time does it take to rise otherwise?
