Hello, I'm an ex academical researcher in computer graphics, currently 3D programmer at Ubisoft Annecy.

I did a PhD on procedural generation of cloudscapes, and then developped a specific interest for participating media rendering.

Researchers discover a new form of scientific fraud: Uncovering 'sneaked references'

A researcher working alone—apart from the world and the rest of the wider scientific community—is a classic yet misguided image. Research is, in reality, built on continuous exchange within the scientific community: First you understand the work of others, and then you share your findings.

New blog post: Demystifying multiple importance sampling

It is a simple thing that turns out to be confusing to a lot of us rendering engineers. I try to explain it in detail here with path-tracing examples!

Happy to report that the full contents of the 4th edition of Physically Based Rendering are now freely available online: https://pbr-book.org/4ed/contents
Physically Based Rendering: From Theory to Implementation

For computer graphics academics and researchers, I threw this list of folks together. Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or included anyone who prefers to be forgotten! Let me know if there are any errors or corrections. Hoping this will help folks migrating from the birdsite. 🙂

A 🧵 about my PhD student (Zack Misso’s) upcoming #SIGGRAPH2023 #research #paper on progressive #nullTracking for #production #volumeRendering (in collaboration with @yiningkarlli and others at #DisneyAnimation).

Here are a few curated examples of the new volumetric voxel cloud renderer that we at Guerrilla developed for Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. This system was designed to function as a traditional volumetric skybox and an explorable high detail environment without any seams in between. It was a crazy undertaking that we completed the bulk of in less than half a year. A tech talk is in the works...

Path tracing is the future of video games rendering, no doubt. Not convinced?

Watch this video, the difference is stunning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-ORt8313Og

Every light and every single emissive polygon casting shadows and multi-bounce GI?
No problem, no hacks needed.

A ton of research and work from my Nvidia colleagues and folks at CDPR went into it.

https://float.exposed/ is really indispensable for explaining floating point -- it's SO fun to open it up and change the bits to show people how floating point works
