Letterpress printer in Madison, WI. Working with analog type and analog design since 2017. Also assorted other book and paper art, etc… Decent printer. Weird dad. Bad juggler.

O’Brien said that if we wanted a vision of the future, we should picture a boot coming down on a human face, forever, but actually I think the most realistic image of our future is Dave Bowman in "2001", desperately trying to disable all the "AI” features in his computer after each upgrade.

So if you happen to be looking for a 20th c type history project to help fund, might I point you to…

The two issues of Desmond Jeffery’s Red Paper are now on @internetarchive. He devised, set and printed them in July and October of 1968 (a year when a lot was happening). Some of his earlier work is also up, and I shall be adding more.

Lordy I’m getting tired of the boosterism for artificiality. Is this what it was like to witness the invention of plastic?

Huge shout out to the material artists of the fediverse, the painters and printmakers and weavers and knitters, the photographers of actual birds and moss, the gardeners and composters, the musicians and bookshop owners, the crafters and shapers of human thought, the sex workers, the repairers, all of us here being our human selves, giving our human time, slowly and with effort.

Edited to add the much appreciated clowns of the fediverse. You make it great.

@RussSharek I’m maybe three years into being bad at juggling, still enjoying the heck out of it, and I love hanging out with jugglers because they are always trying new ridiculous things and bringing others along for the ride.

I’m also a lot less bad at juggling than I used to be!

@RussSharek my daughter has been learning and doing stuff with them for years—stilting, juggling, some clowning, & German wheel. Doing a poster for them was fun.

@RussSharek I’m not yet a good enough juggler to know if I can get into that state. I’ll have to ask some of my juggling friends.

Type kind of found me. A little press followed me home one day and I adopted it and then it found more friends and I adopted them too.

@RussSharek I don’t think it’s the linoleum, it’s the printmaking in general. I have the same thing happen when I am setting type.
