the turner 22 is a common microphone, despite never being a top seller, because it was made for at least 30 years.
It was originally sold to live venues and radio stations, but as the design aged it was increasingly marked to #hamradio operators, #HomeRecording enthusiasts, and intercom makers.
this is an older example, as it was made before the base was redesigned to accommodate a switch, some time in the 1950s

people online debate the sonic effect of #guitar pickup covers, But one thing I haven't seen mentioned is that nickel silver (like all nickel alloys) is magnetic.
This obviously has an effect on the magnetic #pickup.
Brass, chrome, and zinc, on the other hand, are non magnetic. Covers made of those metals will not significantly effect the magnetic fields, or the sound.
