Ponzi scheme? 🤔

Twitter will start paying creators... if they pay Twitter first!

Elon Musk says that Twitter will share revenue with content creators *only if* they subscribe $8/month to Twitter Blue.

In other words, Twitter gets paid when they recruit enough suckers...err, "downline distributors".

This sounds a lot like Amway!

Or worse -- one of those shady crypto schemes!

Seeing people say "maybe mastodon can sell the platform to a bigger company" to me shows a fundamental misunderstanding of what exists here. It's like saying "maybe email can sell the platform to a bigger company"

It's like... You can't sell email as a platform, it doesn't belong to anyone to sell. Same with the fediverse.

From Luke O'Brien:

Twitter just restored the account of lead Stop the Steal architect Ali Alexander, who used this platform to organize an anti-democratic movement to overthrow American democracy.

Alexander is a violence-endorsing far-right fanatic and serial ToS violator. https://twitter.com/lukeobrien/status/1612480421417177088

George Santos' fun first day in Congress:

"For long stretches of time, no one sat directly next to him. His nearest seatmates were the squirming children of members-elect. Santos alternated between staring at his phone and glancing quickly around the chamber, the proverbial school cafeteria. He yawned a lot. He scratched his chin, his cheek, his lips. He fidgeted. He wiped his left index finger around the rim of his right nostril."

George Santos had an awkward first day at the office

The New York Republican, accused of fabricating details of his biography, got a taste of scrutiny that comes with his new job.

The Washington Post

Semafor said today that "a critical mass of conservatives do not trust McCarthy to lead them..."

Conservatives. Is that what they are?

John Boehner's description of the same crowd in his memoir:

"What they're really interested in is chaos... They want to throw sand in the gears of the hated federal government until it fails."

Are the sowers of chaos properly called "conservatives?"

Is MAGA conservative?

Why do #journalists with a commitment to accuracy maintain this fiction?

The Mastodon Onslaught on your blog

You might not be on Mastodon yet, but your blog could get a torrent of traffic from Mastodon, or other Fediverse network if it’s shared there. If your website is mentioned there, it might be …

Something Odd!
It's never the wrong time to look at my wobbly clock http://wobble-clock.glitch.me/
Wobbly clock!

Tesla has a strong design and supply chain synergy. It would be a robust asset, except that its huge supply chain source (China) is now in dire straits.

On the market side, if I were selling Teslas, I would have more faith in Volvo liberals than F150 MAGAts as customer prospects.

Tesla will probably soon recover from the supply issues. I don't see how Musk can ever regain trust and traction on the sales side.

Is he hoping that China will fill the gap?

Just a reminder to people who compare Mastodon to other sites.

Twitter spent US$B5 in 2021. Mastodon’s governing body spent €55,300 (units, not thousands) including some paid development, plus unpaid volunteer hours.

Cash ratio: 80,000 to 1

I think Mastodon has done pretty well and it has a higher ceiling once it gets more effort and investment.

Just sayin.
