If only Apple would address these shortcomings…

I can’t believe they are ignorant of the issues.

I think it’s more about their typical Apple mentality that their way is better and everyone else is doing it wrong.

The MacBook Neo is an excellent product that could encourage people to switch away from their shitty Wintel and Chromebook machines, but there’s definitely still a lot of friction for Mac users that need to fit into a predominantly PC world.

@Gargron The obsession with HDR — super dark scenes to mimic realism in light levels is also annoying. It’s more difficult to enjoy what you’re watching if you’re struggling to see what’s even on the screen. I get that in real life, something might be happening in pitch black conditions but I think for cinema it’s still better to just give the suggestion of darkness rather than the complete actuality of it. 🤷‍♂️
@nygl MacBook Neo 😍
Woot! 😍
@peternlewis I thought I read a while back that there is a command line hack that can be used to disable that notification. Nothing available in the GUI though.
@marcoarment I generally don’t use location based triggers as I’ve found they are abysmally unreliable if you live or work in a high-rise building.

@film_girl @Eggfreckles Yeah I used it prior to the subscription model switch.

I didn’t subscribe to the new version because I feel the same about it as you do, but I guess it’s there as an option in a break glass in case of emergency kind of way. 🤣

@film_girl @Eggfreckles It’s been a while since I had to do it but I think the backup to Mac and restore from there does retain more settings (logins etc) than iCloud backup when you use an encrypted backup on Mac.

I’ve always found the Mac to be the most reliable way to setup a new device from backup. There’s also the option of using the iMazing app for the backup/restore, it’s saved me from bad situations more than once.

@matt_birchler The only compelling feature that the iPad Pro has over the Air for me is FaceID. The rest of the specs in the Pro are a waste of money as long as that device only runs iPadOS.

I still use an iPad mini from time to time, but I have no real use for an iPad given the OS limitations. I’m planning to trade in my iPad Pro 2018 for a MacBook Neo. The primary use for my iPads these days seems to be gathering dust.

In Australia, the iPad Pro 11” costs $700 more than the iPad Air.
