A serious disruption (a fatality) earlier today has been causing chaos all over East Midlands Rail. I slipped onto a train that terminated early at Derby, stranding a whole crowd of people who wanted to go to Sheffield.

Well lucky me: Derby's where I needed to change anyway.

In the meantime: GOOD NEWS! EMR has put together an impromptu special service to Sheffield! How nice for all those passengers!

But wait a sec. Where do you think they acquired the train for that special service? That's right! My connecting train was cancelled and repurposed!

I know that when Google Maps on Android asks these crowdsourced data gathering questions they probably mean to be asking about cars, but they don't say so, and I always prefer to de-emphasize cars, so I always feel free to answer the question as though it were about bicycles instead.

And then I see this! HELL YEAH, BIGGEST IN THE WORLD! "Plenty of parking" FTW!!

An interesting idea that, making the frames of the hire bikes interlock in a daisy chain to form their own dock. Less interesting when you consider it forces you to take the last one in the chain, and a shame if that one is defective.

Which mine was: no assist. To the extent that I wasn't even sure it was even an e-bike at all (another user confirmed it is, actually). A magnificent effort to manually lug that heavy thing across #Marseille .

Thanks @jon and @bovine3dom for the tips. It did require some paperwork at the station but I got HOTNAT to inOui although, hilariously, the inOui left with its own 27 minute delay.
Here in Japan it's not exactly possible to catch an international train. But this ワンマン from 網野 to 豊岡 is off the beaten path and crosses a prefecture boundary so I'll take what I can get. I'm calling it eligible and wearing my #CrossBorderRail t-shirt.
The A1 simply goes to THE NORTH. Wherever you are.

Signs like this all over the Brittany Ferries arrivals terminal in Plymouth, including near the UK Border checkpoint.

Is "keeping Britain trading" a dog whistle for "let's carry on not having any inbound Brexit customs checks"?

Travelled to Portugal by #CrossBorderRail and mentioning it to people (unobnoxiously) hoping to make a #climatechange difference, but surrounded by thousands of tourists who I just know will just not consider doing the same (do they silently judge me crazy, even?). Sad drop in the bucket.

You're not helping, Ryanair.

Now isn't this the itty bittiest little cute green #CrossBorderRail train you have ever seen?? It is train 6/7 in my trip from London to Lisbon, just departed and taking me from Badajoz (Spain) to Entrocamento (Portugal).

I knew it was going to get interesting on day 3!

Hooking my electricity smart meter output to Prometheus and Grafana has told me what I guess I already knew: that the best part of my flat's base load is the fridge, and it looks like a square wave. Story checks out.
